Powers’ remarkable journey in medicine began after graduating from Baruch College and the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. She earned a Master of Science from the University of San Francisco and completed residencies at Georgetown and Boston Universities.
The Diagnosis That Changed Everything
In 2020, Powers collapsed in her apartment, leading to a diagnosis of glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. After surgery and treatment, she shared her experience on Instagram, openly discussing her fears and asking for prayers. Over the next few years, she underwent multiple surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy while showing incredible resilience.
A New Chapter Amid Challenges
Despite her health struggles, Powers and her husband, Steven Doll, pursued parenthood. Unable to carry a pregnancy herself, they welcomed their son Bennett via surrogacy in March 2021. Powers shared her joy with a heartfelt Instagram post, celebrating their growing family.

In February 2024, Powers announced that her cancer had returned. Undeterred, she pursued advanced treatment in Germany, supported by a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $88,000. Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and she passed away later that year.
