Mansion Goes Up In Flames After Thanksgiving Turkey Frying Mishap In Garage

Thanksgiving Day Fire Destroys Mansion

A Devastating Turn of Events

Thanksgiving Day took a tragic turn when a beautiful mansion in Connecticut caught fire, rendering it uninhabitable. The blaze began after residents attempted to fry a turkey in the garage, an action that quickly spiraled out of control.

While Thanksgiving is typically a time for gathering and giving thanks, this incident is a harsh reminder of how things can go wrong when safety isn’t prioritized in the kitchen.

The Fire Spreads Quickly

The Weston Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene around 3:40 pm after an automatic fire alarm went off. By the time firefighters arrived, the garage was already engulfed in flames, spreading rapidly to the rest of the house.

“Upon arrival, fire personnel located a well-involved garage fire that was rapidly extending into the residence,” the Weston Volunteer Fire Department wrote on Facebook. They tried to control the fire, but dangerous conditions, including the collapse of parts of the house, made it difficult. Additionally, a vehicle accidentally drove over the water supply hose, halting the flow of water for several minutes.

A Grueling Battle

Firefighters worked tirelessly for 16 hours, battling intense heat and challenging conditions. The cause of the fire is suspected to be the turkey frying in the garage, though it hasn’t been officially confirmed.

Thankfully, all 25 people who were inside the house during the Thanksgiving gathering were able to escape unharmed. Unfortunately, the mansion suffered extensive damage, and it has now been declared uninhabitable.

Community Support

Weston First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor thanked all the responders for their efforts, including local volunteer firefighters and several mutual aid fire departments. Her statement also praised the community services that assisted in the aftermath.

The mansion, once a stunning sight, is now a tragic reminder of how quickly things can go wrong.
