My daughter dropped off my grandson and vanished – three weeks later, a call shattered my heart

A Surprising Visit and a Big Request

One day, I wasn’t expecting anyone, so when the doorbell rang, I wondered who it could be. To my surprise, it was my daughter, Jane, and my grandson, Tommy.

“Mom, I need a favor,” she said. “Can you look after Tommy for a few weeks, maybe more?”

When I noticed she had a huge suitcase with her, I knew something serious was happening. Jane wasn’t one to ask for favors unless it was important. I didn’t ask any questions—I just hugged her and made her promise she’d stay safe.

Although she looked worried, she told me she had a work mission to go on. I decided to trust her.

Finding a Shocking Secret

Tommy was a joy to have around—full of energy and curiosity. We played games, read stories, and ate his favorite foods. One day, he spilled juice on his shirt, so I went upstairs to grab a fresh one from Jane’s suitcase. That’s when I found something that made my heart race.

The suitcase had clothes for all seasons—jackets and shorts—and at the bottom, there was an envelope with my name on it. Inside was a huge amount of cash—more money than I’d ever seen. I realized Jane wasn’t coming back anytime soon, if at all.

Jane Vanishes Without a Trace

I tried calling Jane, but she didn’t answer. Days went by, and Tommy began asking where his mom was. I reached out to her friends, her work colleagues, and even her old roommate, but no one had heard from her. It was as though she had vanished.

Then, I got a call from Jane. She spoke briefly to Tommy and promised she would return, but wouldn’t answer my questions. After the call, she hung up, and when I tried calling back, there was no answer.

A Dark Past Comes to Light

When people asked about Tommy’s father, I always said it was just a short fling. The truth was much darker. Tommy’s father was involved in dangerous criminal activity. I hadn’t told him I was pregnant, and I feared he would try to take Tommy away.

That’s why I had packed all of Tommy’s belongings and removed every photo of him—just in case Tommy’s father showed up.

Jane’s Return

When Jane finally returned, she looked worn out, like she had aged months in just a few days. I didn’t ask questions. I was just relieved she came back safe.
