A 21-year-old woman has sparked an online debate after she was not allowed to board her flight for wearing a bikini. While she explained her reasons for the outfit, she feels the decision was unfair.
The woman, Kine-Chan, a Brazilian model and cosplayer, was dressed as Rebecca, a character from the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Her outfit included a black bikini, black sandals, and a blue wig to match the character’s look.
Kine-Chan arrived at Navegantes Airport in Brazil already wearing the costume to save time. She explained that she was headed to an event and didn’t want to waste time changing later.
Sharing her experience on Instagram, she said: “I tried to board dressed as Rebecca because I thought I’d be late. But I was told to go home and change because my clothes weren’t ‘appropriate.’”
Her post quickly went viral, with mixed reactions from her followers.
Some people supported her decision and praised her for staying true to her creativity. One fan commented: “It’s disappointing that the airport blocked you. Freedom of expression and creativity should always be respected.”
On the other hand, others felt her outfit was not practical for traveling. One follower suggested, “You could have worn something easier to take off, like a dress or a blouse.”
This disagreement has led to a bigger conversation online about what is considered ‘appropriate’ attire in public places like airports.
Many agree that airports can be stressful, and unclear dress codes add to the confusion. In this case, the airport staff’s decision to stop Kine-Chan added to the debate.
For cosplayers like Kine-Chan, costumes are more than just outfits—they are a form of self-expression and identity. Being told their clothing is “inappropriate” can feel like a personal attack.
The incident highlights a larger issue: where should the line be drawn between public dress codes and personal expression?
As the story spreads, people continue to share their opinions. Some agree with the airport’s rules, while others defend Kine-Chan’s right to wear her cosplay wherever she chooses.
This debate shows how creative expression can sometimes clash with societal expectations in public spaces.
