Frank lived alone for many years, enjoying the peace that came with solitude. He was used to being by himself, so when he heard a knock on his door one Saturday, he wasn’t happy. Annoyed, he got up from his recliner and opened the door to find a teenage girl standing there.
Before she could say anything, Frank snapped, “I’m not buying anything, I’m not interested in church, and I don’t care about any charity causes.” He slammed the door without waiting for a response.
The Doorbell Rings Again
But the doorbell rang again. Frank grumbled and ignored it, focusing on the TV. Eventually, after the ringing continued, he opened the door again, this time more irritated.
The girl, calm as ever, introduced herself as Zoe. She said her mother had passed away, and she had no family left. Frank didn’t care, and he slammed the door again.
More Trouble
The next morning, Frank found his house covered in eggs and vandalized with rude messages. He cleaned up all day, frustrated, but the next morning, more trouble followed—garbage scattered across his yard, along with another note from Zoe, threatening more if he didn’t listen to her.
The Storm
Later, a hurricane warning was issued. As Frank prepared for the storm, he noticed Zoe outside, struggling against the wind. She had nowhere else to go, and despite her protests, Frank forced her inside to his basement for shelter.
A Shocking Revelation
In the basement, Zoe revealed why she was there. She handed Frank emancipation papers, explaining she was his granddaughter. Frank was shocked. Zoe told him how he had abandoned his family to chase his dream of art.
After hours of tense silence, Frank agreed to sign the papers. He apologized for his past mistakes, offering Zoe a chance at a better future.
Zoe, with a small smile, took the papers and thanked him. She then left, but not without a final remark: “I’m taking your art supplies—I’m way better than you.”
