Joy Mills wanted to capture a moment of her daughter Brooke’s first day of seventh grade with a photo session in the yard. As Brooke posed near a tree, everything seemed normal until Joy paused to review the shots.
To her shock, she noticed a large snake on the tree, camouflaged by its bark. Not wanting to alarm her daughter, Joy quietly asked Brooke to step away from the tree, avoiding any sudden movements.
It wasn’t until they checked the photos that they realized just how close the snake had been to Brooke.
The snake, a non-poisonous rat snake, was harmless and simply blending in with the tree. Once they were safely away, Joy explained what had happened, and Brooke was stunned by the realization. Fortunately, the snake stayed on the tree and didn’t pose any danger.
Despite the surprising turn of events, it made for an unforgettable start to Brooke’s school year. She ended up with a unique and somewhat thrilling story to share with her classmates, something most people don’t experience on their first day of school.
While it was a close call, everything ended well, and the snake’s appearance didn’t ruin their day. It was a reminder of how nature can sometimes surprise us when we least expect it, even in the middle of a seemingly peaceful moment like a family photo shoot.
In the end, the story became a highlight of Brooke’s school year, adding a bit of excitement to an otherwise ordinary occasion.
