A road trip in Thailand took a surprising turn for a couple when the husband, 55-year-old Boontom Chaimoon, accidentally left his wife, 49-year-old Amnuay Chaimoon, behind after a bathroom break. The incident took place at around 3 AM, when Boontom stopped for a rest. After using the restroom, he got back into the car and continued driving, unaware that Amnuay was still outside. When she returned to the parking area, the car and Boontom were gone.
With no phone and in the middle of nowhere, Amnuay was forced to walk alone for 12.5 miles in the dark to find help. Her journey was made even more difficult by the fact that she had no way of contacting anyone. After hours of walking, she finally reached a police station where officers helped her get in touch with Boontom. He was shocked to learn what had happened, as he had been unaware of his wife’s absence until he had driven 100 miles.
Amnuay was unharmed, but the incident must have been frightening. Boontom immediately turned around to reunite with her. The couple was finally able to reunite after what was likely a tense and emotional moment. Though no one was hurt, the situation served as a wake-up call for both of them. Boontom was likely reminded of the importance of double-checking that everyone is accounted for before leaving, especially on a late-night road trip. It is unclear how the couple discussed the incident afterward, but it likely led to a serious conversation about the mistake that led to their separation.
